Do you agree that children diagnosed as having AIDS should be permitted to attend public schools?
AIDS is the last stage of the HIV virus. This virus weakens the immune system of the body. However, not everyone with HIV will develop AIDS.
Children can
become infected by the HIV virus through their parents. In the US, most children
are diagnosed with HIV infection before the age of 13. The infection is usually
passed on during pregnancy, childbirth, or through breastfeeding. They are both
ill and unable to attend school. This not only affects their emotional state
but also their mental health.
I believe that children with AIDS should be allowed to attend public schools. Education teaches us to be supportive and not to reject those who are different from us. Every child has the right to education, including those who are suffering from illnesses. By preventing them from going to school, we only add to their mental stress. Moreover, there is a misconception that AIDS can be transmitted through casual contact, such as sharing food, and books, and playing together. However, this is not true. AIDS can only be transmitted through sexual contact, and there are no known cases of it being spread through mobile phones, toilet seats, sweat, or studying together.
In school, an ill child may not be able to do much besides study
due to their illness. Therefore, there is no reason to prevent them from
attending school. In fact, public schools should provide proper coaching and
healthcare counseling for these children. By doing so, we can bring smiles to
their faces, and seeing them smile will also bring us happiness.
